torch song was william orbit´s band before he formed bassomatic and would become top-class producer and purveyor of shlocky classical trance.

while he would form his seminal sound with his bassomatic project in 1990, he obviously had found his formula (morphing, triggering staccatos, spacial pads, sci-fi snippets and female voice-samples) with his 1983 dance remixes of “prepare to energize”.
